OPEN HOUSE 119 Westwood Ct, Winters, CA

My daughter, Devon, who is a licensed real estate broker, will be holding an Open House today, Saturday Jan 17, 2015, at 119 Westwood Ct. from 12-2pm. This house is a great opportunity to live in a cul-de-sac close to downtown, the City Park and the elementary school. The Putah Creek walkway is just a short walk away and a very popular spot for the locals, especially dag walkers. The home has a see through fireplace located between the living room and the dining room. It has been a rental over the past few years and the cooktop, double ovens, dishwasher and the heater have all been replace recently. To get it ready for sale the owner had all of the interior painted and new carpeting installed. The kitchen and bathrooms are original but at the list price, investing in these upgrades would be well worth it. The lot is almost 8000 square feet, a size that is hard to find around. Make it a point to stop by today and take a look. If you can’t come between 12-2 today you can call Devon and make an appointment to see it over the long weekend at 530-304-2245. Hope to see you there.

Berryessa Fire July 2014

I found it interesting to go back and look at my old post from 2009 regarding the fire up around Lake Berryessa.  I had a picture of a helicopter coming down and getting water out of the lake to throw on the fire.  That year the fire was more on the west side of the mountains.  This year the fire started on July 4th east of Monticello Dam and burned down toward Winters and north.  It covered close to 7000 acres. On the evening of the 5th I attended a wedding on the south side of Winters.  As we watched the sun set the sun was a brilliant orange/red from the smoke.  Several of my friends who live in the foothills were asked evacuate their homes during the fire which was very frightening.  .  Due to the expert work of our local firefighters and the responders not one person lost a building.  That is pretty amazing since the fire burned within 10 feet of the office at the camp ground located at the base of the dam.  We are all very thankful to them for protecting our community.

Winters Youth Day 2014

Today , April 26, 2014 is our annual Youth Day celebration downtown. Start your day with the pancake breakfast at Community Center. Then mosey on downtown Main Street and view the parade. The Kiddie Parade starts at 9:45AM and the Main Parade kicks off at 10:00 am. Afterwards, head over to City Park to eat and check out all the things for kids to do. If you are really adventurous then sign up for the Horseshoe Tournament. Down at the other end of Main Street there are lots of adult activities at Rotary park.   There will be some wine tasting and art await you. Welcome to the Winters High School class of 1964 here for that big class reunion. No matter what you do, enjoy the day!

New Winters Listings

Several new listings and prices reductions have occurred in the past few days. There is a price reduction on 213 Creekside to $205,000 and Walnut Ln  has been reduced to $309,000. 304 E Baker St is a new listing as of last Friday s is listed at $231,900 and is eligible for Homepath financing. It is filthy dirt and smells of animal urine but will be a nice home with some new paint, a deep clean and new flooring throughout. It is my understanding that 803 Valley Oak has several offers on it but nothing has been accepted yet.  Hope this update is useful to you.

Earthquake Festival 2012 is today, Aug 24!

Everyone downtown is gearing up for the festivities that will happening downtown this afternoon and evening.  The official kick off time is 5pm.  Main Street is in the process of being blocked off and the vendors are setting up there boths.  Lots of people are making plans to return to Winters tonight.  It is just like an old fashioned family reunion.  While Winters had it famous earthquake in April of 1892 the Chamber of Commerce decided August was a better month to celebrate.  As you know we already celebrate Youth Day the last weekend in April.  So make plans to come on out and support the Chamber and the merchants.  Being the kids, there is lots to do for everyone.

Still Cruisin’ in Winters

Well, it is Cruise Night again tonight in downtown Winters.  The Buckhorn has there tri tip sandwiches for sale for $5. each, such a deal.  Cheaper than at the Davis Farmers Market which will be tomorrow night!  There are lots of cars and it is a beautiful evening.  The cars are lined up on both sides of the street and down the middle of the street.  Grab your partner and come on down and enjoy the fun.   I have my little 88 560 SL convertible out there as my hubby’s insistence.    Looking forward to seeing you.

Bike Riding Through Winters

I found this article in the Outboud section of the Sacramento Bee yesterday and wanted to share it.  I actually had a friend stop by the office today and she had rescued a biker out on Pleasants Valley Rd who was having problems with his bike.  She loaded him into her truck and drove him into town to VeloCity to get the problem fixed.  I asked the gentleman, Craig, if he had seen yesterday’s article and he said, yes, that was why he was in town.  The last I saw him he was headed down to the Putah Creek Cafe for lunch.  Little did he know  John Pickerel was the guest on Kitty O’Neal’s Restaurant Talk today on KFBK 1530 at 3:30pm.  It was fun to listen to John, great job, don’t think I will cook tonight!

Amgen Tour rolls through Winters today!

The Corner of Railroad and Main, Winters

Well the Amgen tour just rolled through town in day2 of the tour.  It is always so exciting to seem them roll/streak down Main Street.  I am so lucky so they go right my office.  This is always a fun event to watch.  There was a very slight sprinkle when them came through town but it is dry now.  Hope the weather holds as they ride by Lake Berryessa on Highway 128.

Cruzin’ in Winters

Tonight Main Street will be closed off from 5-7:30pm for Cruz Night.  So, bring your vintage car down and join the fun or do like my hubby and I do and check out the old cars.  John sold his o32B Ford years ago and his sons will never forgive him.    I used to call it his BS car (before Sandy).  He finally paid someone to finish the rehab as he was never going to have time to get it finished in this lifetime.  It was fun for a few years.  We took it to Cruise Night in Woodland before that became a fiasco and he entered it some car shows.  Guess those boys need to think about buying their own and making their own memories.
