Believe!

I took this picture when Iwas Christmas shopping with my daughter in San Francisco, CA  at the beginning of December.  I thought the quality was very good considering I took it with my cell phone!  It is a picture of the Macy’s window.   When I was a kid my parents used to take us to The City to see all the Christmas windows.  Gumps used to have the best.  One year they had animals from the SPCA featured in all their windows.  It was such a hit that they did it for many yeras after that.  Now that they have their new location they don’t do anything anymore.  Too bad.  Saks and Macy’s are just about the only ones who have lavish Christmas decorations.   Anyway, have a save and sane Christmas.    www.sandyvickrey.com

Yolo County Farm Land

Off to a meeting hosted by the Yolo  County Ag commissioner’s office on Irrigated ag lands but my assistant called in sick.  Actually she is horse so I found a text message from her on my phone this morning.  Told her to stay so I went to the office and sent my husband to the meeting by himself.  Typical governmental mumbo jumbo he said.  Why is everyone late with their rent this month!?  Still trying to track it down and it was due on Tues, the 2nd!  Off to SF tomorrow to Christmas shop with my daughter.   Have a good weekend.

The day after, Black Friday

Well, I hope you all had a great day yesterday with family and friends.  I got to spend the day with my sister and her husband, my brother and his family and my husband and my youngest, Devon.  My oldest son, Chad wasn’t able to join us nor was my son, Jack.  Jack had to work on Wed until 4pm in Monterey, CA and then report back to work this morning at 6AM.  Notime to go anywhere.  Well, we will make up for it at Christmas.   My sister, Vicki did a fantastic job cooking the turkey, no brine this year.  It was delicious.   She makes the stuffing from scratch just like my mom used to do and then two kinds of cranberry sauce like my maternal grandmother made.  She carries on all these cooking traditions.    What did you do for Thanksgiving?

Investing in Winters, CA

My daughter and I have been in Phoenix, AZ the past 2 days learning about different ways to invest in real estate.  It is always fun to see things through someone else’s eyes, especially the younger generation.  We are learning about tax liens.  What an interesting way to earn some money and invest.   I am so glad I had this time to spend with my daughter.  She is really enjoying this and absorbing what she hears like a sponge.

Sunday in Winters, CA

As I was driving home from Woodland this afternoon, I drove by Yolo International Airport just as a group of skydivers were floating down to earth.  I watched seven of them casually drift down out of the sky.   It reminded me of the time I sold a house to Ray, who owns Sky Dance Ski Diving.  He offered to take me up but I had small children at the time and didn’t feel comfortable. I think about him every time i drive by the airport.  The skydivers were just starting to hit the ground when their plane landed on the runway.  The timing is always incredible to me.  I wish I had a picture but knew they would look like ants.  It is always fun to see and it was such a beautiful day.  Hope your Sunday was as enjoyable as mine was.

ers.  My husband raises walnuts so I  have a vested interest here.

The morning after

Yesterday, one of my very best friends got married.  We have been friends since the first grade and yes, we have graduated from high school.  I am so happy for her.  She was widowed three years ago very unexpectedly.  She met Larry two years ago.  He is a very nice man, a little ridged but nice.  I think they will be very happy together.  This s a picture of them dancing together last June at her daughter, Jaimie’s wedding.  A rare picture as Larry doesn’t like to dance and she just got one dance out of him.  I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

The wedding reception was held in my backyard so we have been very busy getting everything ready for the big event.  My husband is in the middle of walnut harvest and is very busy.  Plus, the north wind blow until 4:30pm so there were leaves all around.  We all had a good time helping them celebrate the special occasion.

Look closely in the background of this picture and you will see the old railroad bridge in Winters.   That is where they got married, overlooking Putah Creek.

Tita and the twins

Tita and the twins

Last weekend I went up to Tahoe to visit my daughter who attends college in Incline, NV.  We have certainly had our moments over the years but I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel!  She and I went out to dinner and then she came to our condo while her boyfriend went to a meeting.  When he was done he came over too.  About 30 minutes after she left my pohne rang.  She was in the parking lot and decided to come and spend the ngiht with me so I wouldn’t be lonely.  Did I mention she also has 2 chihuahuas which borught with her.  Of cousre, my first thought was that she and Josh had had a fight but that wasn’t the case.  But she did honestly admit that sometimes it is nice to have teh whole bed just to yourself.  A girl after my own heart.   And who do you think the dogs slept with?  Me, of course.

Saturday both she and Josh stayed with me and the dogs slept with them.  So, I got the bed all to myself.  Now that takes on a whole new meaning.   Sweet dreams.  www.sandyvickrey.com

A whole lot of shaken going on in Winters, CA

Can you imagine a home celebrating a an Earthquake!?  Well, Winters does.  Last Friday was Earthquake Day at downtown Winters.  Winters had an earthquake in 1892 which was devastating to the town.  The earthquake happened in April but Winters celebrates Youth Day in April so we had to pick another month.  Somehow hot August was the chosen month.   Main Street was closed off from 5-11pm to set up all the activities.  Those who participated had a great time.  See you there next year.  www.sandyvickrey.com
