A whole lot of Shakin' goin' on.

Tonight, Friday, August 28, 2009 is the annual Earthquake Festival in downtown Winters.  Come on down to Main Street tonight and enjoy the festivities.  There will be great food, and music.  This is an annual event sponsored by the Winters Chamber of Commerce.  We celebrate the earthquake that hit Winters in 1892 that destroyed a lot of the downtown buildings.  It is a great way to reconnect with a lot of friends.  Come and have some fun and enjoy the new scene.

Our State Fair is a Great State Fair!

I am off to help out at the Realty World Capital Trade Group’s booth at the California State Fair.  This is the third year I  have helped.  I have so manyfond memories of going to the fair when I was a kid.    When I was growing up my dad judged the county exhibits, that was a big part of the experience.  How many turtles and gold fish did I bring home?  Totally lost count.  Every evening when it got dark they had fireworks which was huge attraction.  I believe this is still a tradition and that they are set off over by the race track.  Going to the fair is a tradition I carried on with my own kids.  So, grab the family or friends and head on over to Sacramento and have some fun and come by our booth and say hi.   Have a good weekend!

What is an REO?

I am frequently asked, “What is an REO and how can I buy a foreclosed home?  An REO is a home that the bank has taken through  the foreclosure process and has taken back into their possession.  Once the bank takes it back, then they eventually put it on the market to sell.  Most of our inventory this year has been foreclosed or REO property.  So, if you are looking to purchase an REO, I am here to help you.  Give me a call and I can give you more info on the process.  Let me know if this info was helpful.

New listings in Winters, CA!

WOW!  There were not one but two new listings in the past few days in town.   Unbelievable!  I have been waiting for listings like these, how about you!?  These are finally some nice larger homes but not too expensive for sale.  One is on Snapdragon that was a short sale for a very long time and the other is on Neimann Street.  Very exciting to finally have some new inventory and some move up housing.  I’ll keep you posted.

Winters FFA sweeps at Yolo County Fair

Tyler and his prized turkey

It was an exciting time in the auction arena yesterday at the Yolo County Fair.  The Winters FFA was well represented.  Many of the Grand Champion or Reserve Champion animals belonged to Winters FFA members and of course, my nephew, Tyler was there with his Grand Champion turkey.  Prices were sure down this year, I think the Grand Champion steer only got $2.75 a pound.   Too bad for the kids who put so much time and effort into their projects but a really lesson that there is no guarantee of any profit when it comes to making a living in agriculture, or any small business for that matter.  Kudos to all the kids and their families for being there and supporting them.   There is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make this a successful event.

Grand Champion, you Turkey!

My nephew, Tyler Tufts, had the Grand Champion turkey at the Yolo County Fair yesterday!  He is a member of the Winters High School FFA club.  He is the first member to ever raise turkeys and he is the first Grand Champion winner.    Needless to say, we are all very proud of him.  No, they are not wild turkeys, they are domestic, plain old white, Thanksgiving turkeys.  He could only enter one but raised 5.  If you want to buy one and support the FFA and write off your Thanksgiving dinner give me a call.  The auction is Saturday afternoon in Woodland at the Fair Grounds if you are looking for something to do.
